Visiting ConditionsThe Vaucelles Abbey is open everyday ( from Tuesday to Saturday ) from 10 to 12 am and from 2 to 5.30 pm on week days and from 3 to 6.30 pm on Sundays and official holidays. It is closed on Mondays ( except in July and August ) and it will be closed on May 1st. Visitors can walk around the Abbey with a laserphone (the taped visit lasts approximately 30 mns ) and can then walk around the gardens. The entrance fee is 6,50 euros per adult and free per child. Visits for groups have to be prearranged – groups can either walk around the Abbey with a laserphone or a guide from Cambrai can take them on a guided tour. Guided tours have to be prearranged too and they revolve around architecture, construction, the life of the monks and the renovation of the abbey. The entrance fee for groups is 5,50€ euros per adult and 4 euros per child. An extra 48 euros has to be paid for the guided visit. Schoolchildren can use educational materials devised within the context of the European project entitled Conversion of Sacred Places. They will help the children discover all the aspects of monastic life, but they have to be asked for beforehand. Visits can take place during exhibitions which are held in the 12th century rooms but visits for groups have to be prearranged. This monument can be visited from March 23thtill October 31st. Numerous events are held during the visiting season such as exhibitions ( orchids, plants, Christmas fair), Arts' Exhibition, masses, concerts and so on. |
