Presentation of the association

The Friends of the Vaucelles Abbey is an association which was founded in 1971 to protect the buildings of Notre-Dame de Vaucelles Abbey. It has been active ever since – the site keeps being renovated and looked after. The 12th century Monks' Quarters were renovated first, then the 18th century Palace of the Abbot – the gardens were laid out at the same time.

For 30 years now we have done our best to protect the Monks' Quarters and the Palace of the Abbot of the Vaucelles Abbey (which is a listed building), as well as the 7 ha park, which suffered from the French Revolution in 1789 and from WWI and WWII.

The cost of the work may seem high but that is because the remaining buildings of the Vaucelles Abbey belong to the Regional Heritage; We desperately need your financial help to carry out the renovation work. The Friends of the Vaucelles Abbey Association is entitled to a special account for associations which enables it to allow its donors to get tax reductions.
